2013 NFL Draft: Top 200 Prospects Left After Day Two of the Draft

Written by Eric Galko on .

Ryan nassibDay Two was supposed to be the day all the quarterbacks finally came off the board. After a single QB went on Day One (EJ Manuel), many expected the quarterbacks to come quickly off the board. But Day two of the draft saw just two quarterbacks (Geno Smith and Mike Glennon) leave the draft board.

Along with our second, third, and fourth rated quarterbacks in the 2013 class, a handful of receivers and defensive lineman remain ripe for the picking on Day Three of the NFL Draft.

2013 NFL Draft: 2nd and 3rd Round Mock Draft

Written by Eric Galko on .

Menelik WatsonDespite it being an eventful first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, rounds two and three should be even more intriguing for the avid draft follower. With all but one of the quarterbacks remaining along with top talents Jonathan Cyprien, Menelik Watson, Robert Woods and more still on the board, round two likely has multiple "first round graded" prospects available.

We could see lots of action early and often in round two as teams position themselves to secure one of the best talents that fell past round here. Here's my second and third round mock draft (without trades) for your viewing and speculating pleasure.

2013 NFL Draft: Top 250 Prospects Remaining After Round One

Written by Eric Galko on .

Jonathan CyprienIn a first round that saw eight offensive lineman in the Top 20 picks, EJ Manuel as the lone quarterback in the first round, and FIVE trades, the 2013 NFL Draft first round was predictably unpredictable. And, while players like Kyle Long, Justin Pugh, and Travis Frederick surprised as first rounders, some of the draft’s best players (at least in our eyes) slid past the 1st round.

Lead by Geno Smith here’s the best prospects remaining as we head into Day Two of the 2013 NFL Draft.

2013 NFL Mock Draft: Final Draft Day Update

Written by Eric Galko on .

Geno SmithApril 25th has arrived. Today is the day Mock Drafts go from entertaining guesses to educated predictions. However, this year is the most unique I've covered thanks to the shear uncertainity among the top four picks, where the quarterbacks will land, and just how many trades are expected on draft day.

That being said, despite not being as confident as last year when I finished 8th in the Huddle Report challenge, this final mock draft of the 2013 NFL Draft season is complete.

2013 NFL Draft: Ten "Bold" Predictions for the 2013 Draft

Written by Eric Galko on .

EJ Manuel

The NFL Draft is always tremendously difficult to predict. It takes elite sources, perfect understanding of roster evaluations, knowing GM personalities, scheme views, and position values, and your own evaluations to determine who really is a 1st round prospect and who’s being fluffed up.

This years’ draft, however, is more unique that most. With the top three picks have new GMs (Oakland’s Reggie McKenzie on year two of a massive rebuild), the Eagles and Lions having GMs on the hot seat, and no one having a clue where the quarterbacks end up, team’s picking in the 20s are literally in the same position as fans and media are: clueless.

With that said, I’ve combined the homework I’ve done, the people I’ve spoken with, and my own gut feeling thanks to draft history and my evaluations to give ten Bold (and Informed) predictions on how the 2013 NFL Draft will play out.

2013 NFL Draft: "Predicted" Top 100 Players Selected

Written by Eric Galko on .

Marcus LattimoreIn what is a mix of our scouting evaluations as well as reacting to news and rumors throughout the league, my 2013 entry for the Huddle's Top 100 Challenge (details here) is aimed at being the most ACCURATE in determining who will end up in this year's first 100 picks. They are not "ranked", but merely being on this list means they will be INCLUDED in the Top 100, if my predictions are correct.

In this list, we have eight quarterbacks, forteen receivers, nineteen defensive backs, and fifteen offensive lineman. Also of note, the list does not include Zac Dysert, Josh Boyce, Sam Montgomery, Shamarko Thomas, Leon McFadden, or Ryan Swope.

2013 NFL Draft: The Cases For and Against the Draft's Top Receivers

Written by Jared Counterman on .

Tavon AustinOf all the different roles on a football field at any given time, the wide receiver spot has rapidly become the most electric position in the game. The direct impact the position has on the scoreboard is massive. Playmakers out wide are altering the way games are played now more than ever and at the increasing rate NFL teams are scoring.

Spending resources at the position is a must in order to keep up. 2013’s WR draft class just so happens to be the deepest and most controversial in years. Each prospect seems to have plenty of baggage along with supporters and doubters. Here’s the case for and against the pass catchers up for drafting.

2013 NFL Draft: “Banging the Table” for Prospects in This Draft

Written by Eric Galko on .

Quinton PattonBy the time draft day hits, evaluations are complete, boards are set, and each team has a firm idea of who they’ll be targeting when it’s there time to pick, even beyond the 1st round. Head coaches, general managers, and owners are generally in the room as the lead decision makers, with the influence of each varying from team to team.

However, with the rest of the scouting staff in the room, it gives a chance to regional scouts to take a stand, to “Bang the Table” for a prospect. While it has begun to be a bit over-used, in the NFL, if you bang the table for a prospect, your job is all but on the line. As that prospect goes, you go with your job in the organization.

I don’t take that idea lightly. While I won’t be let go by Optimum Scouting (because I’m the man in charge), I still act, and force our evaluators to think this way, as if each grade given, my job is on the line. And I’d be willing to “bang the table” and stake my reputation on these five players.
